Heater-Class Miner
At 1,300W, this miner outputs approximately 4436 BTU/hr of heat — equivalent to a standard electric space heater. Every watt consumed by an ASIC miner is converted to heat with 100% efficiency, making it a space heater that also mines Bitcoin.
During heating season, miner heat can offset part of the heat a room would otherwise need from another electric heater. The economics depend on your electricity rate, room heat demand, BTC price, network difficulty, and noise constraints.

What the IceRiver AE2 actually mines
The AE series is for Aleo (ALEO), which secures its chain with a zkSNARK-based Proof of Succinct Work. The AL/ALPH series is a completely different machine built for Alephium‘s Blake3 algorithm. They are not interchangeable.
The “720 MH/s” figure is IceRiver’s throughput proxy for the proving workload, not a hash rate in the Bitcoin sense.
Common faults and troubleshooting
- Board/chain drops — reduced throughput or a missing hashboard.
- Thermal throttling or shutdown — check dust-clogged fins and verify fans spin freely.
- Integrated PSU faults — intermittent reboots, or one rail down.
- Network / pool errors — confirm the worker is authorized at the pool.
- Controller / firmware hangs — a clean power cycle usually clears it.
Repair and longevity
IceRiver hashboards are serviceable: chip-chain faults can be localized and diagnosed. Replacement chips and boards for Aleo silicon are less common compared to other manufacturers, but sending a dead box for assessment beats scrapping it.
